Hi from Cyprus! I did not vote for Fidias, but I am rather pleased to see him elected because: 1. He managed to mobilize young people and got them to vote for the first time in their lives. 2. His success meant that the extreme right-wing party did not get as high a percentage as it could have. 3. He might be uneducated, but watching his interviews on his Greek-language channel (where he hosts a lot of interesting podcasts), he does not come across as a narcissist and could be a successful MEP as he is committed to transparency and doing good. 4. He said he might join RENEW or the Greens, which are the two anti-populist parties in the European Parliament. His seat would have gone to a populist 'economist' from the fringe left. I will give him a chance to prove his worth. As to why this happened: people in Cyprus do not know much about politics, so they just vote for who they like as a personality, as you very accurately speculated.

One thing I don't see from these videos is Russia being actually compared to EU Eastern European states which would be a much more fair comparision considering the history and culture, why don't compare like the Baltics which we're literally a full part of the USSR and used to look like the average sh1thole in Russia, oh but i guess that wouldnt play into they're dumb propaganda, compare like Tallinn, Vilnius or Riga to a Russian city the same size....yeah i don't think there really is any comparison there to be even made....this is coming from somebody who grew up in a rural village in Latvia and who has traveled to Russia back in 2019 for a couple weeks and actually left Moscow...compare our villages to Russian villages the same size, again it would be almost day and night in most cases...not to even mention comparing Scandinavia or Finland to Russia, bc even the so called "ghettos" there would look really nice for the average Russian...all in all I think this is the opportunity for what Ukraine is actually fighting for. Every immigrant gains weight. I moved from Italy to Canada and I gained about 5 kg the first year. It was all stress related, the uncertainty, different lifestyle, varieties of food and portion sizes my body wasn't accumstomed to eating. I missed my family and friends which made me sad at the beginning. The winter itself played a huge role, very dark and freezing. Now I have acclimatised physically and mentally. I love living here and prefer it to my home country. Italy is now the country I visit and Canada is my home. My best advice, take Portuguese classes. You will meet many other immigrants in a similar situation. Most of my friends I met here and became close to were through these language classes. They were immigrants adjusting to living in a different country and culture. I remain close friends with many of them and I met them almost 20 years ago!
